If you could 'invent' a gadget for your computer, what would it be?

I think for me, if they don't exist (hah!), would be a nice little hypnotic usb lava lamp to distract me when working.

I'd invent something that allow living things to travel through space in finite time. i.e., walking into a dimension that brings someone across from Australia to United States in a matter of seconds.

Legs so it could follow me from room to room if i need to do something. It would be cool to always have the internet going no matter where i was. :p No i dont have a problem *tick tick*

Hmmm, which gadget do I choose, between the dimesion that allows instantaneous travel and the USB lava lamp... ;)

I think I'll pick the lamp. I hate surprise visitors. :p

You all thought so much bigger than me! no fair!

what's so special about lavalamp? ... isn't it just a lamp?

How about a USB blender? Mix your favorite drinks in the comfort of your own office! Just don't spill on the computer, that would not be good.

Now that is an idea FourBear. I would probably never leave the computer then. Depending on what I was drinking though.

Ooh, or how about something you could connect to the computer that allowed you to play your RPG's for real? A la that episode of X Files where Mulder dons that stupid suit and goes shooting bad guys.

Ninikins, I had to post this when I seen it. This should be exactly what I think you were looking for. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/7825/

lol... that's awesome. Perhaps not a REAL lavalamp, but pretty cool. I wonder who I could buy that for....

I got one of those from a vendor show a few months back. It's not a real lava lamp (it's filled with liquid and glitter). But pretty cool nonetheless. A real usb powered one would be nice, but would probably take a bit of power to generate enough heat from what I would think...

Can't laugh at my blender idea...there is a USB George Foreman Grill:

I think grease on a computer would be way worse than anything from a blender, heh.

Oh, the things people come up with. A George Foreman grill. Just when I think I have seen the weirdest someone finds something like this.

My future invention is a gadget that can read my mind and work in coordination with the computer - open the sites I want/write what I have in mind/use the mouse and click on what I'm thinking of, etc.

It would save time and my arms wouldn't get so tired, do you think this invention is possible?

I think I'd go for a USB fridge that could automatically restock itself some how.

No one wants a simple blogging touchpad (use the "insert picture" or copy picture button) to stick on your keyboard?

Or maybe a joystick that can be stored where you'd stick a 5 1/4" drive bay?

So nothing practical,, got it.

How about a special hook that you can hang a dog's leash on your cpu, then you can make it take your dog for a walk using google earth by strapping a large irobot product to the base and a gps unit to link to google earth through the cpu. Maybe you don't even need that, use a telescope and a star tracker to keep control of where it's going! That seems fairly inane.

I'd have to invent a gizmo that somehow helped with my massive ADD. I get so distracted so easily when in front of the computer, that it kills my productivity (typical of nerds, I guess). I supposed that I could "invent" unplugging the network cable, which would help ;)

I also get very distracted when working on the computer, but since my work is related to the internet I can't unplug the network cable. I'd like to have a gadget that transmits electric shocks when I get distracted.

Thinkgeek has one:

Anyway for a gaget I would have to say a USB-powered toaster, So you don't have to get up to fix a Hotpocket :D
