If you are tired of seeing those sleek and chic mobiles for grown ups day after day, here's one for the kids. :)

The Imaginarium Mo1 Mobile Phone is for kids in the age group of 6-12. The best part about it is that it lets your kids make calls on a restricted basis. There are call and hangup keys, keys for flipping throught the phonebook and two dedicated keys for mom and dad. This will be extremely useful in case of an emergency.

And you don't really have to worry about your kids making unwanted calls. Huh... And yes...it looks cute and cool, just like your kid. The phone will be available from December, but there's still no word on when it is going to be marketed in the U.S.

Go and grab one if you are too worried about your kids security ...

I think its a great idea, but only for very young children. Couldn't imagine a 12 year old thinking thats cool.

I dunno...Should kids that young be using the phone? I think only for emergancies but not as a social outlet.

Most kids around here these days already have phones - the same ones the adults use. I couldn't see something that looks like a fisher price toy appealing to them. Maybe a software for existing phones that helps control who the kids call can work...kinda like parental control technology they have for television sets.

I still don't like the idea of kids carrying mobile phones around. Oh yes, they're cool, because kids own them, and they can feel proud. But where's the moral behind it?

It just help kids get addicted to such things, and eventually forgo what's more important, study!

keith, I totally agree. At what age do kids start needing to carry a status symbol? Kids that age don't need cell phones, it's that simple. They just don't. I don't have kids, but if I did, they wouldn't be allowed to have phones until they were 15. It's just too much.

Unfortunatly in my country its not that simple. We have have high crime rates and children are very vulnerable. The thought of a child being "unconnect" or unable you contact help in a bad situation is very scary.

I don't like kids using a phone. It is expected they will be following up a routine life till they reach the adult stage. Moreover for our kids it is absolutely necessary to have a proper social life. If they are given a phone they will be chatting all day long with friends.

My boys who are seven and five are way to young to have a cell phone. It's good I would think if they are off by themselves and might need to call mom or dad. Or if there was an emergency. That being said I don't feel that a 5,6,7,8 or 9 year old should be anywhere by themselves or without a responsible adult around. I mean my son is seven and he is always with an adult even when he plays out front I am out there with him. Maybe when they get older I would consider one but I really see no reason for them to have one in the next couple of years.

My seven year old keeps telling me he wants a mobile phone, but I think that's way too young. I think society tends to be giving children things at a very young age. I think kids need to learn to wait for things. One other reason I wouldn't give my son a mobile phone is because he is not responsible enough yet. He can't even look after his lunchbox. How is he going to take care of a mobile phone?

I think that's awesomely handy. Especially if your kid is at someone else's house or so and they want to keep in touch. I think it's a great idea.

At this day and age, I think that it is ok for a child over the age of 12 to have a cell phone, for emergency purpose of course, and it does help to keep you at ease to know where the child is, so I think that this is a great idea.

Good for your children....you really must be a responsible parent..
Nowadays to many things are randomly happening such as kidnapping, robbery etc...
It is really a must to have a gadget for contacts....

i agree with that.. i think having a cellphone in below 10 yrs. old children is not advisable to have a cellphone... it could take them in risk...

In canada they've had cell phones for kids for a few years now. They only have a few buttons on them so the parents can program in the important numbers like home, 911 etc. They are cute little things but designed with safety in mind not talking to friends really. It type of kids cell phone is a good idea, especially if your kids are active and out of the house a lot. This way you know they can get in touch with people when they need to if something happens.

But I can't see kids over 10 wanting to carry something like this around, kids are so tech-oriented these days.

I'm not sure 6yr old kiddies should be using mobile phones, i mean why would they need them at that age, they shouldn't be left without supervision.

This is quite a good thing to buy for kids. The society now is different from my generation where I was studying college when I first bought my mobile phone. The children nowadays are smarter and more demanding than before. The design of this mobile phone while look cute, but should be improved so that it could match up with the market today and be targeted for youngsters as well.

I would say that this is the best think that is happening to Kid all over the world.

Dad and Mum should take this into consideration for their kids at home.

What a regard they have for the tomorrow's leaders.

The Kids love this idea.

Nice discussions.

In my country, many communities gave mobile phone to the child who was 8 years old more. Almost all the children were affected with the situation in and around them. Most parents followed their children's will because the child felt embarrassed if did not have mobile phone. There were those who succeeded in advising their child but most were forced to follow children's will.

Thats a cute looking pieace there. I believe its just the standard model with incoming and outgoing only types. But nice for kids, they wouldnt need more. however, i prefer not to give my kid a mobile phone now, lets wait till he knows how to handle it. he is just 2 years now!

Yes I was of the same opinion. I think the situation in each country was quite different the difference.

We could not avoid the progress of technology.
The experts that drafted phones for kids clearly also will adapt with the situation in each country that will become the target market phones for kids. If seeing this current situation a large number of Gadget Show (http://www.amj-gadgets.com) that took part in changing the situation in many countries.

I dont think kids need phones until they are at least in 5th or 6th grade. What is the point to get one any earlier?
