I'm looking for a decent wireless optical mouse for my laptop, that has reasonable battery life. Any recommendations? I have way too many cords around my desk area. If someone could just recommend a nice neat compact mouse, that would be good too :)

I use a Logitech V200 mouse for my notebook. I love the mouse. The batteries last quite a long time and the receiver stores in the mouse itself when you're not using it. The connection is also pretty consistent. Overall I'd give it two thumbs up.

My recommendation is get a Wireless Optical Mouse that uses AA or AAA size batteries; so you can always purchase a rechargeable batteries, or normal alkaline batteries.

Logitech Brand is highly recommended, they have extended life.

Don't get a mouse that uses its own rechargeable battery. If your battery life went dead, so does your mouse.

I was looking for a good laptop mouse myself so thanks for the tips. I hate using the touchpad on mine, it's so fiddly.

Both versions of these mice are supper accurate on tracking on about ANY SURFACE and the receiver is stored in the mouse on both when not in use

Making the chance of you loosing a small item less likely. Ive used both and own the newer model you see there and honestly its great :)

I can think of one bad thing i can say of either... one logitech quotes 1 year Battery life before you need to change it...

Go for Logitech Wireless Optical Mouse. See that the battery it uses are normal batteries which are easily available. I have personally used Logitech products and will happily recommend.

Not all their products use normal batteries the vast majority of their notebook line do for that reason.

The G5 gaming mouse i have from them i use on my entertainment and gaming system has 2 rechargeable batteries, each takes 3 hours to charge, lasts 18 hours continuous use to 22 hours. I change it once every other day i swap. The spare charges in the base station. I would recommend that setup for a laptop hence why for mobility use you want a triple A or double A setup.

Go laser, and bluetooth, at the same time. I reviewed the Rocketfish brand and loved it! If you head to the TechieDiva.com site you can search for the review.

I especially liked that the bluetooth dongle allowed me to access my cellphone and printer. The mouse does the "sleep" mode but wakes up very fast and I hardly notice it. The batteries are saved this way and the laser, instead of sometimes recommended optical mouse, is quick acting and perfect for both gaming and accuracy.

Pricing has dropped so drastically on these types of items, and who doesn't love a gadget that does more than one thing?

I have found something on internet while surfing on net .... How do you improve on the mouse that has everything? Remove its tail. Mighty Mouse — the mouse that changed the way you scroll — has gone wireless. Now you can take that seamless, touch-sensitive, 360-degree scrolling design with you wherever you go.
Bluetooth
No Tail Required

With its secure, reliable Bluetooth technology, the wireless Mighty Mouse goes wherever you do. Pair it with any Bluetooth-enabled Mac and wireless keyboard to work untethered and uncluttered at your desk, or take your show on the road. Mighty Mouse lightens your load on the go by operating with either one or two AA batteries. That’ll save you lugging a bulky dock around.
Laser-guided Precision
Laser-guided Precision

The wireless Mighty Mouse’s tracking engine is based on powerful laser technology that delivers 20 times the performance of standard optical tracking, giving you more accuracy and responsiveness on more surfaces. It works just as well on your office desk as it does on a table at your favorite coffee spot. So leave the mouse pad at home. Mighty Mouse is one smooth operator.
Spry and Mighty

In the beginning, there was one button. Then there were two. Then there were clickable scroll wheels and programmable toggles and solid-state slides. But nobody made a mouse as easy to use as your Mac. Until now. Mighty Mouse combines the capability of a multibutton mouse with Apple’s signature top-shell design for the best of both form and function. Use it any way you work: Stick with single-button simplicity or click with multibutton efficiency.http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21mHuMhn2QL._SS160_.jpg

This is something I'd like to review on my gadget review site. I'll have to take a further look at it and who makes it! :)

Thanks for the information.

I have had a lot of little laptop mouses over the years, and they were all okay, and were all optical ones. I really like the look of the one pictured in this thread, so cute!
