There are lot of monitors available in the market of different brands, different sizes and shapes. It needs some update to decide what to go for. I think for the as now LCD monitors are available for affordable prices and they are good for the eyes it is better to go for LCD monitors.

Dell monitor are usually quite good, when shipped with PCs purchased from them.
If you want to know which kind of monitors are good, there are those which have clear liquid display like Sony's.
Those are excellent quality LCDs, and non-strained to the eyes.

I'm currently using a Viewsonic. It had excellent consumer reviews and happened to have a nice rebate attached to it. I use an HP at work, it's nice, but not as clear and crisp as my Viewsonic. I usually check out all the reviews before buying a monitor, or will buy one I have used in the past if it's still available.

You can get 19" WS LCD (1440x900) for sub-$200. I think that's an awesome price! :)

Buy.Com has a deal on a 19" off brand for $119.00 with coupon right now. Seems like a good deal. I have a 19" ViewSonic I like and have had for about 18 months.
My brother owns several 19" Samsungs and he swears by them. He is going to get two more for his children soon.
