Problem with opening attachments in Outlook Express

Hi Friends,

I hope some one can help me out in this regard! One of my friend is unable to open attachments in his Outlook express. It was working fine a week ago and that is what he said! I myself tried helping him out and got an error message when I tried openig an attachment in his Outlook express! The error message was..umm I could not really remember.. but it was something like "Access removed in OC for unsafe attachments.. blah blah"

I have a guess that this could be because of not updating his anti-virus software! Its just a guess not sure though! Can any one please be so kind to help me out on how to get this resolved? :rolleyes:

It could be anything, but I'm guessing that his security settings on either the OE or antivirus/firewall, is stopping attachments.

If he can't find the reason why, I'd try to do a restore on the computer, and it would probably help

There is an option in the OE options that you need to un-check IIRC. It's something like "don't allow access to unsafe attachments". It's very annoying IMO and enabled by default :mad:

I think there should be an option in OE which disabled auto-block attachments.

Have you tried opening the same mail in browser? I mean take for example the account you are trying to access is xxx@yahoo.com. So, open your xxx account in Yahoo through a browser and try opening the same attachment in browser or try downloading it in your PC. Yahoo iteself will check the attachment for virus before allowing you to access the attachement.

Well if i am not wrong the may be security settings on either the OE or antivirus/firewall, is stopping attachments... try to solve this .. then the pc will work fine
