Mac or PC or Linux

i'll never switch back to windows but i was wondering if anyone had a thing or two to say for my home team, mac, or linux, or even pc. which do you use, why you use it and what are its pros and cons. also vote on the poll.

I use both Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) right now. Most of the time it's Windows, only one of my computers has Ubuntu.

Why? It's just what we had and I learned it. I tried Linux because I thought it would be cool. :p

me too. i use both, but mainly ubuntu, takes getting used to, but in the long run its worth it. On windows i had so many crashes, xp sp2, i had an average of 3 reinstalls a month, linux, only once in 4 months!

35% Ubuntu
35% Windows
35% Suse
1% Debian (haha, almost obsolete)

I use all 3 It depends on what im doing. Theres a right tool for the job.. for my entertainment box im full PC and in my free time PC

all my 3d work is on a PC or *nix compositing goes both way depends if im in aftereffects or shake or other applications When im doign renders i prefer nix or PC...

Gentoo is my nix distro of choice

I'm on OS X most of the time. I really only use my Windows machine for NewsBin Pro and DVD Shrink. I also have Ubuntu installed just to play around with and see what it's like.

Linux is so much headache, there is no drivers and staff... PC + Windows is just gr8 for gamer

not true its the fact that many people have propritery hardware and that has a lack of drivers like viaos for example planet gay for nix

I use Windows XP because I don't have a Mac and I grew up learning off Windows. People always complain about crashes but I never seem to have a problem. :/ I downloaded the Vista beta but haven't installed it yet. And I want to try out some form of Linux on my old PC just to see what its like.

Cant agree with you, Linux drivers is always a big problem, for new hardware especially. I am saying nothing about rendering, MAC is much better in rendering.

Really isnt ive never had a driver problem because im using complaint hardware.

As far as renders go im sorry I consistantly do renders all day in 3d applications and nix will out clock a OSX box any day of the week im sorry and i can prove that too with benchmarks, there is a reason why we have 45 1u boxx tech render nodes they are all quad AMD's too

Well I had big problems installing nForce HDD with RAID function on Debian

I dont know why nvidia actualy has nforce suported linux drivers that are extreeemly stable
