aite.. i came up with this project around two years back.although i used it to light fire crackers it could almost be used for anything.
\
\what you need.\

one 2n3055 npn transistor (get one at radioshack or dicksmith or any electrnics place

few electrical ignitors 9v (They are supposed to be available at hobby shops for model rocket engines)

note ..i couldnt find any ignitors here in my country i made my own

one 9v battery

one strip board

soldering iron, solder, case to put ure circuit in2 if ure fancy

\
\
\
\
\
\all the stuff above are available from radioshak or dicksmith electronics or any electronics store.exept for the ignitor try a hobby shop
\
\
\
\aite get to work
\
\connect the circuit as shown
\
\the transistor 2n3055 is kinda weird one. the collector connection is the aluminium body of the transistor itself. and the other 2 pins are emitter and base. use a paper clip to connect a wire to the collector.\

\donot i repeat do not try to solder anything to the body of the transistor.ull wrek it 4 sure.
\
\after u finish with the circuit ull see that there are two wires coming out that are not connected to anything.
\aite this is the fun part
\
\u can connect these terminals to any equipment depending on wat ure planning to use ur detonator as.
\

\application 1(Remote controlled detonator)\
\this is one of the coolest uses for this.how many timmes u saw in the movies all those guys using remote controls to detonate bombs and stuff. aite this is 4 u
\
\get a remote controlled door bell.open up the receiver unit(the part which gives out the doorbell sound) ull find a speaker inside.remove the wires gng to the speaker.\

\next u have to find which is + and which is - of these two.to do that conect a LED to those two wires. and press the door bell. see if the LED lights. try to identify the +- with that.

\connect the +- terminals of the speaker corrctls to the + - of those two wires from the cct.
application2(timed detonation)\

get a alarm clock
\do the same
\
\
\have phun:cool:
\
\the transistor does nt specifically have tp be 2n3055 i used it because its readily available

This might come in handy soon for my brother. Thanks for the DIY info.

That's really cool, sounds a little bit too much work for me though. I'm happy with the ammonium-chloride soaked string as a fuse then running like... heck :).

Usefull. Though i really enjoy the light fuse and run scenario. Activating explosives/fireworks/whatever else from a safe distance with no danger involved kinda takes away some charm and fun of pyrotechnics.

yeh useful for keeping some fireworks under the principals desk and remotely detonating it

Here is a better one:
Get a spare christmas light bulb.
Carefully brake the glass without breaking the filament.
Put just a small amount of gun powder inside it.
Connect wires, battery, switch and you are done.
You can even make it without the gunpowder if it is too hard to get.

There's an easier way... all you need is a 9 volt, some speaker wire and some extra fine steel wool. A button, battery snap and some alligator clips if you want to get fancy.

for a (slightly) more detailed diagram, go to

When the window pops up, maximize your screen and press refresh. ImageShack sometimes compresses pictures, and make them unreadable.
+-------(button)----------()
- ------------------------() steel wool, possibly held in alligator clips.

The current flows through the steel wool, causing it to get hot and ignite. It burns extremely hot (it is steel) and will light almost anything.

It's kind of the same as my setup... exept you have to fight with connecting steel wool to the main wires. :)

That's what the alligator clips are for... its just that instead of building a detonator for each one, you can use a little bit of steel wool. Some places it's harder to get the stuff for detonators, anyway.

How about an even easier way. Light a match. Aim, throw, and run like hell before it lands on what you want to detonate. Can't be easier.
