Hmm... I'm sure you can get ideas from those cars vacuum cleaner (which are handheld).

Those are normally plug into the car batteries, so you might want to modify that to plugs which can fit your household electrical supply.

Hi,
Isn't it better to put the sponge INSIDE the bottle? that way you can make sure that the dirt won't go out...

I have no clue how to build a vacuum, but I would imagine that taking apart an old one of yours would be a good start. That will how you how they should work, then you can tinker away

Check to see what's inside whatever vacuum you plan on moddin/using as a base, to see what you've got to work with.

Yeah, you may also want to take a look at other old vacuums you have laying around. I know I have a ton of them shoved in closets, in the garage and stuff, you may be able to pull some parts from them too to really rock the new vacuum design.

I guess buying one would costs you less than creating your own. If it's your first time doing that of-course you're dealing with tiny stuffs and wirings. Your experiment might cause you some troubles. Better ask some help from a technician if you can't stop yourself or just buy 1 that would be much better.:p
