I forgot one of the coolest coolest gadgets that I have.

I own a 60" Airwolf petrol model helicopter. (http://www.centuryheli.com/products/fuselages/airwolf/images/Airwolff.gif)

This has not been enjoyed to the max really, all in all I think it cost around £1000 for everything and it was an Xmas present to me from my partner 5 years ago, so me & my brother built it, poorly.

We almost killed each other trying to fly it, I tell you what, when the rotors spin and it hovers and you flick a button and the 3 wheels go up..hmmmm very cool. We tightened the rotor blades up real tight which we weren't meant to do and took it down to the peat moss where there was a large open space. It was a disaster and she never went higher than maybe 5 feet, it was uncontrollable.

I took it to a professional who looked at it, scratched his head, made lots of ooh, agh, tut tut sounds and said he would set it up professionally for £70, which he did. Then I moved house and its been in storage ever since. He said it can fly at around 40-50mph!

This is the kit (not mine, ebay images)

Thankfully I now have mine out of the bodyshell so that maybe someday next year I can test & run it knowing that if I crash it wont destroy the wolf, the theory is if I master flying it I can then put the airwolf bodyshell on and make cool sounds (http://members.tripod.com/~Khaggan/music/airwolf.mid).

For now its upstairs and has not been seen for a long time :o

Now THAT is seriously awesome. Get a remote control A-Team van and a Kit to cover the ground troops and you're done. I grew up with those shows, loved every minute of those series.

Me too, Knight Rider/A-Team/Airwolf & of course Street Hawk!

Everyone I have ever spoken to that knows anything about these says, they are really hard to fly.. I must dust it down and try again, I'll have to get it out and take some pics because the shell is really cool.

If I could just get the log cabin by the lake and a .. what was it he played? a chello or something? He played some musical instrument to a bird of prey, damned if I can remember but Ernest Borgnine (may not be spelt that way) was the man!

Electric ones or homemade ones? I've seen some designs for elecrtic indoor chopers and they are very stable.

most of the electronic indoor ones have 2 pros that spin in oposite durection canelin out the over rotation of the craft unlike this guy hes building takes skill to fly that puppy

They are notoriously hard to fly and not really a quick pick up and play kind of gadget.

But considering they can cost less than $100 vs $600++ for a gas choper....
And if they are hard to fly that makes them even more fun to use.

Nahh its the gas tradional ones that are hard to fly see the top prop causes rotatation on a real chopper thats why the rear tail prop is there to counter that

That little electro ones dont have a rear tail prop because there are 2 props on top spinning against each other canceling out the rotation

So the cheapo electronic ones are easy to pick up for a fun flight you can get a cheapo japanese one for 150 and up if you really look

I've seen some very small indoor helis that use the normal configuration. I bet thos are so hard to fly...

well ive seen them too theres one that does some sort of weird gry deal with a internal spinning weight that ddoes the same counterotation but looks normal thats a small indoor so i dont know

I love all those shows.
They made TV great.

As for that Airwolf gadget, me wants it !
Precious !

That is one cool piece of kit. I remember an episode of Airwolf where a red Airwolf was created and there was a show down at the end. No prizes for guessing who won.

Classic TV and a great gadget.

Good work !

There are PC simulations that will teach you how to fly radio controller helicopters so you don't end up destroying your model! This thing looks awesome. I have to admit I watched the show back in the eighties....and I just heard last week that the real airwolf heli crashed and burned some years after the show....so sad..
