eah I thought MP4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-4_Part_14) was video whilst MP3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mp3) is sound. Though I suppose a lot of MP3 players are also MP4 nowadays.

Yes! you don't have to convert your audio to Mp3 before it could be playback on your Mp4 player.
