I'm not a big fan of rules but do feel that the forum needs them some what. I've started work on the FAQ (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/faq.php) so any feedback or suggested additions would be welcome.

As the current contest does encourage posting however I want to discourage posting purely for the sake of increasing post count. Basically we want to encourage quality posts (a lot of which we've seen already) whilst at the same time discourage spam posts. It's a fine line so any suggestions on that score would also be good.

Did you manually write it?
I thought it comes by default as we get in a phpbb forum.
Basicly - Basically ;)
Will take care of the rules from now. :-|

Thanks for the spelling correction.

vB does come with basic instructions but not posting rules as such. It's up to the forum to make what ever rules they want which is probably the way it should be rather than the forum software writer making the rules up :).

With forums I've ran in the past I like to let the community decide what should and should not be allowed, as I think that leads to the most happy members. Though I will obviously try to sway decisions :).

how about a rule about bumping topics. It could be forbiden or you couldn't bump it more often that [period of time].

Do you mean bumping old topics, yeah there should be a rule for that. I've probably got a week or so though to think of the wording :).
