View Full Version : Changeing the threads from php to html format
Change'ing the php format to html would help the forums each topic to be indexed on the net.

Could be done from the control panel of the vb

She is right - google likes html better. If it's PHP, there is a suspicion that the page is custom-generated.

The forum has not trouble getting indexed:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Aforums.coolest-gadgets.com
And the search engines don't prefer one over the other if you stick with just one or two variables max.

Does it helps us users to have the forums on HTML or is it just the same?

You wouldn't notice any difference as a user.

dont think its required, because when you keep the html based pages option there is a problem of duplicate pages in the eyes of the search engines.
vB should have a simple plain text version IE LOFI version that google will index fine...
There is a plain text version in the archives (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/archive/index.php) which is also good for PDA size screens. The main forums are also getting indexed pretty well for such a new site.
Yea that will keep the seach engins happy.

How can I acces the text version? I want to be able to use it on my cellphone.
Use the archives (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/archive/index.php) as they are pretty much clean but boring text only.
Al you chould make a palm.coolest-gadget subdomain that is a lo fi palm version that links the forum ect and set a browser check on the front page. Like google does when i go to google.com it automaticly gives me the handheld version on my treo

Better make it mobile.coolest-gadgets. And that is really a very good idea.
Al, why isn't there a mobile version for those of us who spend much of our days on the street?
Get a better mobile browser :)
i use my treo on here a lot..

My phone browser does support coolest-gadgets.com very well, but it would still be a good idea to have a mobile version. Just to speed things up.
Have you tried gadget archives (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/archive/index.php) jacubilloro, it should make mobile browsing a lot easier.

But then I won't be able to post, or create threads...
And I'm also talking about a mobilew version of the main site coolest-gadgets.com. That would be nice.
Ah I see, I've not planned on adding that sort of functionality as it would be a lot of work. If there is a demand for it I will look in to it though.
isnt there a AvantGo mod for vB? i coulda sworn i saw it on thier forums a while back
