Let's see... For Windows.. Dell right now due to prices... but they might be less popular due to the exploding batteries...
If your talking about OS X then Macbooks.

Vote for the one you use the most or the one you believe is the best one

I've got a Dell, but if I had the money, I'd probably self-build one, or go with a lesser known company that's known for high qualityness.

I have an Inspiron 6000 and love it - the reason for buying it - credit- I needed a way to rebuild and was able to get credit through them - but have been happy with the computer, the customer service everything - I would and probably will buy from them again!

Here in CostaRica we call our self-built computers "3 patitos" (3 duckys)
It's just a common brand for homemade. Oh, and they are also the best ones!

Giorgi

3 duckys? why?

jacubilloro

Dont' know... 3 patitos is just a popular saying... lie if you buy one of those weird chinese TVs, or radios, or whatever it also applies for the 3 patitos brand...

I know... Just to make things clear this is not my main computer...
I only have it because it still works and I'm too lazy to throw it away. Besides it's fun to tell people you have such an old piece of hardware that still works.

I have a P4 @ 3Ghz with 512MB of RAM and the rest of the computer is not so good as the processor, the soundcard is an old-school Creative Sound Blaster PCI.

Besides getting a new soundboard I would also need some speakers, but since I got another computer with nice sound, it doesn't bother me much...

A very good budget sound card is Chaintech AV-710. Google it. ;)

Self Built,
AMD X2 4200+ OC'd to 2.4GHz
2GB RAM
1TB over RAID 3
M-Audio Firewire 410 for sound
XFX 256MB 6600 (I edit audio so I dont need a lot of graphics torque ;-).

Rolling your own, is just so much more satisfying...

My main machine is a Dell but I also have a Shuttle, a couple of self builds and 2 older Dell servers kicking around. One of the servers literally gets a kicking every time it restarts (after power-cuts or holidays) as it has a dodgy disc and needs a couple of tender loving kicks to spin up (I have moved all the important files off it onto a NAS (I'm not that daft))

I have used a couple of brands before, but now I am using DELL machines for my laptops and desktop workstation.

The other brands I have used are ASUS, Compaq, HP and Fujitsu.

Mostly Dell, but we've got two others, a HP and a Compaq.

I like shuttles... they are... small... :)
Why don't you change your HDD to something you don't have to kick around to make it work?
