Does anyone has any idea how to make an IP Cammera using a normal webcam?
I'm thinking about some "module" you can add to give it ethernet connectivity.

What do you mean "IP CAMERA?"
I think: Good internet conection + Webcam http server + webcam would do it

That's what I want, but without the PC. Just some kind of usb2ethernet interface. Any suggestions?

I think he wants a piece of software or hardware that already exists so that all he has to do is install + run it, not write it. :p

That's correct. Mostly a piece of hardware. Something that asigns an IP to my webcam so that I can jut connect power and LAN and you have a full IP cammera. Does anything like this exists???

yes, but i've never seen a tutorial on how to make one. I'd like to know too, that has all kinds of entertainment potential.

Hmmm it could be a nice idea for a product. Just compare a $20 IP module + a $10 webcam with the same features as a $400 IPCammera.

From your non-IP webcam, you could upload images to a web server and then re-broadcast from there. I use this approach (even though the D-Link DCS-6620G is wireless IP) on the growing grass webcam. (http://www.watching-grass-grow.com/)

Do you know of any software that may do this easily?

Alright, a software such as this IP Camera 3.0 (http://www.softsift.com/200608/ip-camera-30-transform-your-webcam-to-an-ip-camera.html) should be simple enough to help you set up a normal webcam as an IP network camera.

I have tried it but it works fine in intranet but its not that good in internet. I had one (http://xjsid.tripod.com/Java1.html) using active webcam and used both http and ftp and I can say that ftp was much better.

Within the intranet, the theoretical speed is about 100Mbps, depending on your network card, so I should say it should definitely perform well within the intranet.
However, a lot of factors will have to be considered for the Internet. Going through several hops and routing, of course, you won't expect the performance to be good. moreover, it's an IP camera, so the functionality is aiming at viewing for real-time mode. It is likely that there is a bandwidth bottleneck in this case, especially transmitting large amount of video packets over the network.
Actualy i posted al ink to a nice package for Open source embedded ethernet (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/showthread.php?t=240) projects I belive there was a project they linked for doing just this. I cant imagen this being very hard... Id look for a small linux type distro with a small usb camera to hack apart and after all nix has a small foot print not a lot needed. After all this is how the Axis Network Cameras work. Than you can set up a small web server with the images and or stream it that way using MJPEG with the proper codecs.

I followed that link the same day you posted it, but found nothing about a cammera. Are you sure the project was there? Maybe you could post the direct link.
I gotta look, it was kinda burried
