I need the "center speaker" wiring schematic of the Dell MMS-5650. This unit has game inputs (three 2-channel mini plugs) feeding to the subwoofer. The subwoofer box has the 5-channel amp w/ connections on the back for:
- center channel speaker (DB-9)
- front left & right speakers (RCA phono jacks)
- rear left & right speakers (RCA phono jacks).
I only have the subwoofer (purchased from a Goodwill store) and I need the wiring schematic for the DB-9 connector on the subwoofer that connects the "center channel" box. I presume the center channel has an on/off switch, volume control and possibly balance?
Thanks,
Robi

I do not have the schematic, but I can tell you that the center has an on/off volume control. I am looking for the schematic also, because my MMS5650, which is a complete set, cuts out a few dB every now and then and so far I haven't been able to identify whether the problem is in the center or in the sub.

Lando,
Thanks. I've since gutted the subwoofer box and am driving the box with a different amp.
As for your problem, if all channels are dropping in volume, I'm guessing that the input mini-plug (or even the DB-9 plug) has a contact problem. Suggest applying just a bit of light-weight oil to all pins, then work the plugs in & out to distribute the oil. Hope this helps.

I to have the same problem with the volume dropping way down, I have openned the box and it may be an power amp or vreg problem from the transformer? Anyone having the same problem let me know.

OMG that sounds like a pretty good surround sounds, since its subwoofer can have additional connections at the back..

Hi,
I have a pretty much same issue, i bought a Dell MMS 5650 on ebay, Its missing centre Speaker,
If some one could help me with the pinout of the CENTER db9 connector it would be of great help to me ,
opened the Subwoofer and was able to figure out 4 Connections out of 9
Actually its not 9 its 10 connections, The nuts used to secure the DB9 connector is GROUND(GND)
Pin 1,6(Is shorted and is RIGHT Channel O/P from TFA9843J Amp Chip)
Pin 5,9 (Is shorted and is LEFT Channel O/P from TFA9843J Amp Chip)
I still need to find out, how the volume control and Turning ON/OFF things work., Its way too much complicated for a person like me.
Pin 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 my guess is (Two pins should be for ON /OFF )
rest Three should be LEft/Right controls.
Please help,
Further. I really need its pinout

Hi! I have the inverse problem! My subwofer is out of service, so I cannot use any speakers as they all are pluged on the sw. I already bought a new speaker system, so I'm ready to sell the speakers. May be we can make a deal?
