Sometimes I am absolutely amazed by what mobile phones, PDAs, etc are capable of doing these days! One of my favorite "new" features is the mp3 player ability. My other favorite is an old classic: the built-in alarm. Works especially well when travelling ;) What are your favorite cool features for mobile?

I use the alarm every day...
I have a Siemens SK65 (http://terpstravaganza.blogspot.com/2005/04/siemens-sk65-std-vs-blackberry-built.html) with flip open sideways full qwerty keyboard. No thumb twisting to text someone. I love that!
Another little known/used feature is the remote synching. With simple Open Source software you can rmeotely sync your phone over the air with your home machine, sharing contacts, tasks and appointments. All free and Open Source (like ScheduleWorld (http://www.scheduleworld.com/description.html)). I blogged about using SyncML (http://terpstravaganza.blogspot.com/2005/04/syncml-connectivity-solutions.html) a while back.

Remote synching sounds great. How many products are compatible with that now? I think it would be very useful for me and would help me straighten out my contacts and appointments.

I'm not a Nokia man so wouldn't be able to vouch for them but I believe all the Symbian OSes have it included as standard. Wouldn't be surprised if you can download similar functionality as a Java app.

I think I need a phone with a qwerty keyboard. That would make texting sooooo much better.
Some phones have instant mobile blogging for video and images. Not had a chance to use it yet but its pretty cool.

Any mobile that can send e-mail can be used fro blogging. Which means almost all mobiles can be used for blogging. Mad4 is probably on to something more advanced. I read that Flickr etc. now supoprt geotagging via GPS so you can photo blog and record the geo location automatically with your GPS enabled mobile.
(Try explaining that to your grandma...)

I personally like the Push-To-Talk. There is one phone, that I like, I think it's called a Helios. The phone allows you to blog on myspace which is pretty cool.

the coolest by far i think is that we can still talk on them, ridiculous we add so many things sometimes we forget about the original purpose. We still get dropped calls, but we barely notice cause of other distractions on the phone!

The program for my Treo 650 I can't live without is Directory Assistance - so many times this has come in handy- looking up phone numbers, getting driving directions, etc...
You can download it here:

Ahhh...The coolest feature i love in my mobile is the so called "Walkman" in sony ericsson phones. Listening to all my collection on a click of a button. The equalizer feature is an additional bonus. :)

Let me explain myself better.
Why would a company like nokia try to put certain features on certain phones when they are fully capable of having one superphone that can do everything? I know that this might cause some problems with the sales of other phones, but at least they should give us consumers the option.
azn1art

Other than the problems with sales of other companies, if they do that then soon they have to keep upgrading the features on that one phone.. Like if it has a keyboard that flips open like on the 6800 then soon they would have to make it bigger for other consumers and then the phone will just be ugly.. Most of the time they are putting features that appeal to people the most *Teenagers* like camera and txting.

In sim free phones (http://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk/)I just had nokia n73.its rocking great sound and
having 3.2 megapixel camera is like having camcorder in your hands.
Among new mobile phones its best. I am enjoying it.

There are many cool features available in today's mobiles, some are very advanced features. For me I like the gprs service alongwith internet. I know most modern phones give this feature but still when I see the phone in action I am only amazed.

I love my alarm. My samsung had a really nice one, where you can program various alarms to do what you want, when you want. My nokia was similar. I now have a motorola. I have to manually enable/disable the alarm every day and it's driving me nuts. Maybe there's something I'm missing but it's a pain!
