View Full Version : Welcoming a Few Moderators

In order to keep these forums clean, informative and free of spam, I've enlisted a few moderators to help out. They are all doing this on a purely volunteer basis, get no extra points in the contests, so be nice to them.

I do enjoy a free flowing forum and hate forums that are over moderated (I don't go to them for very long). So I'd like these forums to follow that route in a spam free manner

The main jobs of the moderators will be to keep the forums clean for a family audience and free of spam. This will be done via infractions, if you get an infraction please read the message that comes with it as that will explain the reason why, then try not to repeat the offence.

So without further ado please welcome kadhal, Liam, proxops-pete and Tim onto the moderating team.

Gratz on being mods. Shouldn't they get a different rank so people can know that they are mods?

You can see who they are over at http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/showgroups.php
I'll also give them custom titles so it's up to them if they want broadcast it.

We hide, so when you spam, we come out from the shadows and...
get you!

Ooh, and thanks :P

I just need to add Mike to th moderators list, thanks Mike.

There may be one or two more depending on PM replies but I reckon we've probably got enough to keep these forums in order for a while :)

Mod isn't really all about banning people. In fact, I would really love to see more posts and threads coming through. As much as we want to keep spamming to zero, but we won't really want to deter members from hesitating in their post.

Still, active participation in the forum is still greatly welcomed and appreciated.

I have read the same book and I know those tricks also :P so be careful.

Is that a challenge? :D

The most annoying thing I found is that countries like Malaysia and the Phillipines use 2 IP addresses for the entire population. So it's hard to punish spammers sufficiently without bothering legit people.

Do me a favor when you make some oen a mod make sure they know how to be a people person and confront a issue with experience... Because theres nothing worse than some one that miss lable's some thing and acts on it improprietly only to get fustraited in thier own situatuion... by no means should am od ever loose his temper and all ways have a solution for a problem.

I think most people Al elected mods were mods before at a time (e.g. on HostMatrix or some other coding forum). I think if you have a problem with one of us you should, er, take it up with that mod or Al :P

Totally agree (other than the spelling :)).

The mods have all been chosen due to their passed experience as forum moderators and/or as friends with a lot of common sense, everybody gets angry from time to time (I know I do) but I'm sure the mods here will act in a professional manner.
