It seems our Data centre was subject to a DDOS attack, hence the bit of downtime. This downtime just happened to coincide with us hitting the front page of Digg with one of our stories which was very annoying.

Hopefully we are back to normal now, but the site in general may be a bit slower than normal due to the extra digg traffic.

As expected, but it seems all pretty fine now.

Ooh, I really thought the downtime was because of digg, haha.

Why would anyone want to attack us? :P

Speed wise now it seems very good considering we are on the digg front page. Lets hope all issues have been resolved.

The growing popularity of the site, with some scammers trying to break the jackpot prize... all these are potential targets, attempting to bring down a growing site.

Lucky that this is hosted on a dedicated server, if not any DNS DoS attack will just be enough to stop every site hosted on that server.

We still seem a bit shaky but hopefully over the worst.

As far as I know the DDOS was not aimed at us but somebody else at the same data centre. One of the technicians there is going to look over logs and get back to me.

I hate days like this, Digg front page is cool though :).

You're a joker.... haha :D . if 50 posts is enough to bring down Al's server, then each of your post must be millions of line long.... :D

It was his CG blog post that was on the frontpage, Keith.

Ditto question above - I missed the URL/story ... and my last time on the front page of DIGG was back in December - about 16,000 visitors ... curious what it is these days for someone that stays up there for a while.

So far Digg has sent us an extra 8,308 visitors. I obviously don't know how many visitors we lost during the downtime.

That sure is a mouthful number of visitors :)

The downtime sure causes problem. Even at the moment, the connectivity seems unstable as well.

My website has had only alittle less than 20K visits in about 3 years... I would be so happy with an 8K rush.

Yeah I think we need to upgrade to Windows 3.1 :)
