Here's my recommendation for current prices... all prices are based off Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com), one of the better (if not best) online PC/tech stores (where I got my Cowon A2 from!)... :)

AMD X2 3800+ Retail $150
ECS RS485M-M (V1.0) Socket AM2 ATI Radeon XPRESS 1100 $60
G.SKILL Extreme Series 1GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) $83 <-- 1x 1 GB so you can upgrade to 2 GB more easily later... ;)
ATI Radeon X1800XT 256 MB $230
Lite-On 16X DVD Burner w/ LightScribe $31
Western Digital Caviar SE SATA II 250 GB $75
Thermaltake Soprano VB1000SWS Silver $79
Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W $85

Grand Total $793 (plus s/h + possible tax, prices as of 8/21/06)

For LCD monitor:
19" Wides Screen LCD's (1440 x 900) are fine... there are lots @ Newegg.com for under $200 (incl. brands like Acer and Hyundai).

I wish I had the money! :( Oh and no, I don't work for Newegg... wish I did! Then I bet I could get loads of discount!! :p

Here's 2 more websites if you want to save money on any tech stuff.
I use them to be able to find things cheap. They update everyday too.

Slickdeals (http://www.slickdeals.com/)
TechBargains (http://www.techbargains.com/)

The only thing I would be interested inthere is the hard drive. $70 for 250GB is very good.

Deals Plus (http://dealspl.us/) is another good site for spare parts as well as gadgets.

Nice price on the box build. I'm so glad AMD cut their prices down and plan on picking up a dual core very soon.

Thanks. Yeah... I am hoping I can jump on dual core bandwagon soon...

AMD already started producing AMD Dual Core. My brother owns a falcon which has an AMD Dual Core.

Yeah. they've been producing dual core for over a year. The price cut I was referring to was about the dual cores and how cheap they are now.

I was referring to the price drop due to Core 2 Duo introduction... for example, AMD X2 3800+ was about $300 back in June. Now, it's half of that at $150! THAT, my friends, is a price drop!
