tracking system for a restaurant

Hi,

I have a question for people who know more about tech stuff then I do.
I work at a restaurant where people come up to the counter and order and then we bring their food out. We are looking in to getting table tent things with paper numbers inside, but I was wondering is there a cheap system that we could get to track everything? Could we put little "bugs" on the table tents and have a computer in the back that would be able to tell us where they are sitting, what we do now can be a pain, people do listen have of the time, which is very annoying. But I've heard of other places that just use big numbers and it can be very stressful. Thanks for any help. Heather

Have you been to any restaurants with the electronic ticket devices? I've seen ones that have (I assume) an RF receiver. You provide the customer with a little gadget which contains a unique ID, then when their order is ready I assume you just hit a button on a control panel which signals that unit, which then vibrates, beeps and blinks a red light. I've only seen these once or twice and can't remember the name, but hopefully the description might give you a starting point. Do you know what I'm talking about? They seem to be common in multi-story fish and chip shops etc.
