Someone found this at a flea market and we are all pretty stumped on what it is. It has now become a big pet project to figure out it's function.

Since I haven't made any posts before, I am not allowed to post images via URL, so I have attached three shots of the device.

Looks like keychain to me, but at the same time, it can be used as a cap-opener for bottled drinks.

Ah, Al! Nice to see you here, I thought I won't get to read much of your forum posts anymore.

Strange, but there is no way this thing was used as a bottle opener....it just doesn't fit.

The metal stud that is in the red plastic frame moves upe and down. The solid steel piece has four holes that can fit on the metal stud. The "bottle opener" part can also fit in the open slot on the red plastic piece. Believe me, numerous folks have looked at this thing and they all have ended up scratching their heads and giving up. The closest I can guess is that it might be a device for measurement, calibration, etc for some sort of industrial or medical reason. Oh Well..........

I do think the same, but then it does look like a keychain cum bottle opener.

Its funny how I, and I'm sure many others, expected it to be some futuristic gadget only for it to turn out to be a bottle opener. Cool bottle opener though. Wouldn't mind one for myself either

They are very weird, but my guess is they are bottle cap openers..
