Finnaly got around to reading this artical and unfortunetly for sony it makes some very good points that if sony fails with the PS3, sony may be in some serious hot water.

good article and I dont think PS3 can save sony because unless you are a PS fanatic there is no reason to spend 500 euros for a basic PS3 when it releases in november ( XBOX 360 costs 300 euros )

The PS3's price has always been an issue and we have yet to see how it will actually fare when it gets released. If, however, it fails gamer expectations considering the price they paid for it, I don't think it will be the end for Sony as a whole. Other than the Playstation game console, Sony has other appliances they are good in. Gamers may not trust them in the gaming console arena, but they sure excel in other areas.
a Large percent of sonys income is from the playstation arena...

I don't see much hype about the PS3 and I'm inclined to think it's going to flop. Why can't they come up with something innovative and new??
I think they are not hyping it up right now with a giant rush of advertising is because they are unsure if they will have enugh to go around on release

As a PlayStation fan, I can honestly say I won't be purchasing their latest system. It just costs way too much for me! I doesn't sound like it is that much better than the other next-gen consoles, either. If I get a new console, it will most likely be the Wii. I don't think the PS3 will save Sony.
its funny because iwas talkin to a bunch of sony fanboi's today and they are like zomg PS3 rocks out and started bragin about specs and than i asked them are ya gettin one? all 3 are like nahh its too expensive maybe when it comes down in price...

I personally love my playstation 2. Now as for the 3, your right I think it's just way to expensive for me. I thought i read somewhere that the system was going to be delayed. Has anybody else heard this?
Have not heard anything yet But i dont know i think the new systems the price of them + the game prices + the online prices to play than you gotta buy online content... to hell with that ill pay for world of warcraft faster than i will for that...

The only way the PS3 can save Sony is if it does not have any Sony batteries in it. :)
I think they are trying to use it to push their new DVD tech, but they have priced themselves too high and are potentially shooting themselves in the foot.
I think Nintendo is going to do some serious damage to Sony and the PS3.

Yeah, I think that's the problem exactly with the PS3. It sounds great but it's just too much for you average consumer to pay. When the PS2 came out at 200$, it seemed like a lot to me. But the PS3 is more than double that, and it's just too much.
Also, I bet a lot of people who just couldn't wait for the newer systems gave in and bought an xBox 360. All-in-all, it doesn't look real good for sony.
