iPod or Zune

What would you prefer Apple iPod or Microsoft Zune?
and why?

From what i have seen, Zune sounds better than iPod, but i dont like the company behind it. So i will have to pick Apples iPod.

I don't know... I think iPod will still be the best :P Just because Microsoft boasts about all these crazy features doesn't mean it'll work good.

I've never really liked anything from MS. I do like my iPod :P But, I guess we'll see when it comes out.

The Zune just won't be as cool as the iPod. The new pictures of the Zune look really cool though, it's got a nice big screen.

For me, the ability to buy films/tv programmes from itunes like they are starting to get in the US would be a big ipod plus if it was made available in the UK, I'll stick with the ipod for now.

I would definitely not say that iPod is the best player, but it is the best marketed. It really depends what you are going for. If you want trend appeal and ease of use guaranteed, iPod wins hands down. If you want more functionality/capabilities for possibly a better price then Zune or Creative or Archos or iRiver are the way to go. Obviously the majority of people buying iPods out there are probably not really shopping around and comparing features before they buy. They are going for what looks good, what the media tells them to get, and what their friends already have. Gadgeteers on the other hand might go in another direction.

Picking the product depending solely on the "company behind it" is ridicilouse. I bought iPod video when it came out, was all hyped but my hype kinda dried off after using the "confusing" iTunes. If iTunes are made to make you life easier with iPod then windows crashes solely because of users. I like iPod and all but Zune has all the features of iPod and more. So I'm selling my pod and buying Zune.

I would go with Ipod the whole way.

I agree with Asian_Smith. The Zune looks like the Toshiba Gigabeat.
The Ipod is different than other DAPs out there. The Touch Wheel makes going through music easily. Due to how long the Ipod has been out and how many models have been released. It's hard to go wrong with the Ipod.

I don't think you can go wrong with Zune either... they had all the Ipod models to observe and make a mp3 player better than iPod

i like the iPod better, because it is very clean, easy to use, it has so many accesories out for it, it works with my 360, and it can hold a lot of songs at a fairly high quality!

This is like asking someone if they want to be killed a hacksaw or a handsaw ... and then having people get excited because they're fans of craftsman. I think it doesn't really matter. Both players will have their downfalls and I think people should support smaller developers. With monopolies nobody wins, and that's what Microsoft and Apple are both shooting for...:o

hard to say when i havnt used a zune but i do curently have a ipod i still have my orignal mac only ipod too and it works

The click/scroll wheel is just a great interface what can i say Its sensitive enugh that i can use it trough the cloth on my jeans when its in my pocket to adjust volume ect.

Because thats what i do with my ipod now.. when im on the subway and its in my pocket i can adjust the volume using my finger over the click wheel trough the pockets material without taking it out of my pocket..

Yeah, I picked iPod because I already have one and know how it works. I even play Doom on it and I can watch videos on my nano. The Zune sounds pretty cool but I'm happy with my iPod.

The only way the ipod will get beat is if some one comes up with a really new reinvented product from the ground up all these companies are just revamping the old idea of a mp3 player and adding features what will make a diffrence is if they just redefine what the product is and design the product around that.

But this will take some major R&D money and only large companies have that power but the question is who will flex it?

I was originally an iPod fan. But when I got my hands on a Zune, I was actually blown away. The Zune is suprisingly really well made. Plus it has a lot of features the iPod doesn't and I will have to say that Zune Recommendations is better than the iTunes Genius. I know when people think MP3 Player, they think iPod. But the Zune is a great player. I feel that if people got their hands on a Zune, they would be surprised as well. Plus there are a lot of Zune Accessories (www.inspiretech.com/c-9-microsoft-zune-accessories.aspx) for the Zune. But don't ask me. I can't choose between the two.
