Anyone here been using Firefox 2.0 Beta 2?

I recently downloaded it and it's a nice improvment over 1.5, but it doesn't seem drastically different.

The main new features I've noitced and liked are:
Built in spell checking
A bit of a theme refresh (http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1272/firefox2beta2ft3.png)
Each tab now has it's own close button, it's a bit confusing at first, but it's better once you get used to it
Undo close tab (quite useful!)
Better feed handlingOverall I've liked it and look forward to seeing it released. The absolute best has definitely been the spell checking. It's pretty sad how many times I spell because wrong.

Do you know whether plugins need to be updated to work with it? I have a few plugins that I wouldn't want to browse without, I do like the idea of "Undo Close Tab" that could come in very handy.

Most of the plugins still doesn't work....

The one that I know works is the Google Notebook.
(There may be others).

The main reason most plugins don't work with 2.0b right now is becuase when it was created, the author only said it was compatabile with 1.5.x, but it's very likely that it will work perfectly well with 2.0.

There's a plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/958/) that will make all of your old extensions compatabile with 2.0, I've used it and have had no trouble.

How many people really use opera and firefox? It looks like such a hassle to set up compared to windows. How much safer is it anyway. I guess i want to be told i really need to do this.

You know, it's a browser, not an operating system?

Firefox has about 10% of the browser market, and Opera has significantly less.

Installing it is as easy as installing any other Windows program, just download it from here (mozilla.com). It will even import all your bookmark from IE if you want. :)

Seeing someone use IE at work or wherever, really disgusts me
It's either they are ignorant or a newbie, the latter I can tolerate
Being a web designer I must say I hate IE with a passion, if you want to see the web the way it was ment to be displayed use firefox...

Market Share:
Microsoft’s IE – 75.88%
Firefox – 13.71%

The reported stats are pretty funny but the main reason IE has so much market share is because of forced installs on workplace computers, not because it's any good.

In a personal note, my webserver stats from users visiting a few months ago was IE: 10%/Firefox: 80%/Opera: 10%
Now a days no one with IE has even hit my site (this includes my avatar on various high traffic forums like penny arcade)
I think that says something profound.

IE isn't that bad in the workplace, if it's under a secure corporate firewall, becuase there are advantages to using IE. For exmaple, you can see the current user's name and authencation level in the browser, which will let you determine what to show on something like the coorporate intranet.

At home though, Firefox is by far the best. :D

Interweb is a diffrent breed alltogether but regardless of the firewall local policies need to be created on every system to properly secure it that any real admin should hence why out of the box FF is a better browser. Only time id use IE in the work place is when the interweb is based of off a microsoft network But thats not whats in question here so mike lets stay on track shall we? rube That being said there are other ways to get that information than from browser Qeuries that is insecure to start with...
