I posted this over at DP, but since Al chimed in over there, I assume we won't mind me tossing in over here.
So my brother is eBay'ing his 15-year old Seattle SuperSonics Shaving Bag (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:31&item=270028959717) - his fiancee thinks he is nuts to sell it and nobody will buy it.
No reserve and FREE shipping ... and (amazingly enough), it has gotten a handful of bids already and is up to a few bucks ... plus about 400 views.
I don't really care how much it goes for (it truly, truly is a piece of junk - broken zipper and toothpaste stains) but, I'd love to get that hit counter up there showing a lot of ("cough, cough") interest in this fine collectible item (more "cough, cough") ... so if you have a minute, check it out, add to your eBay watch list, spread the word, etc.
If nothing else, I wonder what the heck his fiancee is going to see - LOL! ;-)
You beat me to it Alek, lets get this dumb auction some views :)

Thanks for the support Al - "dumb" is an understatement - I've seen this thing - as mentioned over in DP, the suggestions to "burn it as a biohazard" have some merit ... ;-)

Hey I think its a good idea. E-bay's first auction was a broken laser pointer. I like seeing some more "eclectic" things on auction - makes it fun!

$36 US for that? I'm going to go through my stuff before I move and see what I can get rid of on ebay. It will make moving a lot easier if I get rid of some junk first.

It is totally a piece of junk (i've seen it) ... but looks like the ante has been raised with his fiancee per the updates on the eBay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270028959717) that now has over 5,000 views - holy moley!
On Sep-14-06 at 19:29:28 PDT, seller added the following information:
ok, now we're getting somewhere. I egged her on tonight by saying that I wanted to use this bag again for my travel through work. She started talking trash about it and how noone would ever buy it. So I got her to say that she'd give me a b*** **b for each dollar that I was able to sell it for. Help a brother out!
On Sep-15-06 at 13:29:03 PDT, seller added the following information:
Holy cow, this is going to pay off well for me, and I don't mean by the money! Let's make this more compelling - whatever the winning bid is, I will write a check for that amount to the Celiac Research Center at the University of Maryland (two of my nephews have Celiac disease). I'll send a picture of the check to the winning bidder, and they can confirm with UMD that the donation was received - my family has donated money to them before, and they are familiar with us.Of course, I'm going to keep the collatoral winnings due to me from my fiancee. I doubt I'll be able to send you pictures of that, but rest assured I'll be thanking you!

WOW! I just checked and the current bid is $81! What a lucky guy :)
its a colectors item... what can i say people collect anything...
its up to $83......i could be rich with the amount of similar junk i own!
shows u just about anything sells on ebay
its a real problem for me not to be able to accept Paypal. Kinda makes it hard to sell on ebay!
Why cant you accept paypal?
so they like banned paypal or some thing there?
its not banned! they just never bothered to get us listed in approved countries
why arent i surprised? ebay is lazzy the whole company is horrible
our population is too small to bother them!
no population is too small if they have money to spend

In from South Africa and we got a prob with PayPay too... we can make payments but now recieve payments. It sucks and our population isn't too small either.

Wow over 80 bucks for that! I think its his write up about it. I hope he is screening the bidders at this point. Sometimes people bid with no intention of every paying. Just so they can get in on the attention.

Seattle SuperSonics Shaving Bag (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270028959717) has 18,000+ views and top bid of $1,025.
My brother agreed with my suggestion to donate the money to charity, but he says "I'm going to keep the collatoral winnings due to me from my fiancee"
BTW, she currently has NO IDEA this has gotten bid up like this - I told Myke he's gotta try to capture some video of here when she sees the auction! ;-)

That's awesome! The last time I saw the bid was 9 hours before that ended, and majorgeeks was the one with the highest bid.
But just took a look it seems samthefunkmoney won it with USD$1050. That guy has only 12 bids, does he has money to pay up? I really feel otherwise....

My brother hasn't gotten a confirmation of the donation to charity by the eBay buyer yet ...

My brother says no response so far to several inquries to the person who outbid MajorGeeks at the last minute per the updated image (see below) on the eBay auction page. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270028959717) Would be lame if the person didn't make a real bid, especially because it was for charity.

Sounds to me like he is not getting his money. Hopefully he will, but it doesn't look good so far.

It doesn't look like he is getting his money.

It's quite unlikely... judging from the final bidder's ebay reputation. Can see his feedback score wasn't that high.
