Our $1,000 gadget contest (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/showthread.php?p=6439#post6439) is officially over. Thanks to everyone that has registered and took part by posting in these forums.

In total there were 7,286 points earned between all members. Awarding points based on the quality of a post was a bit tricky, it was done in a automatic way (based on length) and a manual review of a percentage of everybodies posts. For example a post like "I reelly hoep this h3lps" would not score any points.

Anyway onto the overall winner, who can choose any one prize from the prize list (http://forums.coolest-gadgets.com/showthread.php?t=50) is

Case with 893 points, thanks very much for all the quality posts that you've made on these forums.

Once Case has chosen his prize (the Laser I'm guessing) I'll then do the draw of all the remaining prizes. I'm limiting the number of prizes a member can win to 2 to maximise the number of different winners we have.

If anybody would like to know the percentage chance of them winning, ask here and I'll post it.

Congrats again to Case and good luck to everybody in the draw.

Woohooo, not bad. Still, i bet case or amit will take 2 prizes both, but i can expect atleast one.

I'm off to search for Al's posts. Somewhere he mentioned he might write his story about how did he get CG to be extremely popular in just a year+the popularuty helped him get a few thousands worth of prizes to giveaway.

Good suggestion but I've not got the set-up that would let me film it easily.

I'll be using http://www.random.org/ to draw the numbers and I'll then compare them to a spreadsheet that I've written where every member has a range of numbers.

The draw will be done at 8pm GMT this evening, and I'll post winners as and when they happen.

That is good advice, the laser does come with safety goggles I'm pleased to say.

no, i'm serious. This laser can destroy an eye quicker than the eye reflex understands to close the eye. If you're doing any upclose experiments, goggles are a must for everybody whos watching.

YEa im all ready well aware of how to work with high powered lasers mybuddy has a laser lab in his basement, one of the lasers hes working with he has to cool it with liquid nitro because it gets way to hot.

That's the only one one I've not got a pic off (which is typical), it looks like a small square solar panel (3" square at a guess) with adaptors for different phones. If you ask nicely I'll take a pic tonight and post it here :)

For the Jiffy bags they've gone out using Royal mail, the parcels will be sent out via a courier company (probably Pods).

Most things have been sent but I've made a bit of a boob (again). I'm currently away with my house move and I "was" going to bring the remaining prizes with me to send off but basically I forgot, which kind of means I can't send the remaining prizes out as I originally intended, sorry.

However, I'll be asking the girl friend to send the remaining prizes out. She is working at the moment so I can't guarantee this, though she does tend to be more reliable than I am at tasks like this so it will hopefully still happen this week.

I'm still waiting for a few addresses so if you won and haven't sent me your address please let me know.

Thanks for the picture Amit, have you actually got it charging anything yet?

Must admit I made a mistake giving that one away, when I got it I didn't think it was compatible with my mobile but as I was packaging it up I realised it could be used to charge any USB device, so it would of worked with my current phone, bummer.

My Cowon A2 has PAL setting as an optioin so I hooked it up as input and picture wasn't great, to say the least. TV tuner was just wasn't picking up much at all... I was hoping it would be a good TV for my wife in the kitchen or something... but alas... no luck.

Besides, there are converters to allow conversion between PAL and NTSC systems. You should be able to find it from the market, somehow.

It has a built-in antenna... as for converters, I was hoping I could avoid that because I wanted to use it as is being portable and all... :(
