Okay, so this isn't really NEW technology... but I was wondering if anybody out there has ever tried one of those self-cleaning cat boxes. It knows when the cat's been in the box, then cleans the litter.

Do these things actually work?

Ive wondered about this myself. Ive used the clumpy litter in the past and would like to know if this is worth the investment. Last i checked these little suckers were around 100.00!!! thats way to much money to spend on a toilet for the cat.

I have actually never heard of these. Here was a site with some reviews if you are interested. It is actually cheaper than 100.00 now.

I liked the space age litter tray (http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20060806/space-age-litter-try/) we reported on :)

lol... how funky! It sounds like, conceptually, it's similar to the regular automatic litter boxes.

This would be great for my cat, because I've been sure for a long time that she's an alien.

I have to say ive had the best luck with the self enclosed house type litter boxes like this one compared to the open top ones. Every cat ive ever had used to continuously scratch and cover the litter and this house style would stop the litter from turning up on the floor. I would look at this one. The style is nice.

My brother had/has one. I don't like cats so I try to avoid thinking about anything having to do with them. His had some kind of rake machine that went over the top of it. I always wondered if the cat might get smashed.

This would be perfect. Just the other day our cat got litter all over the floor covering up her waste. This is our first cat and I am trying to get adjusted to having a cat after always having a dog. Thanks for the link.

I think a better solution to the automated litter box is just to make the cat leave.

If not that, why not teach them to use the toilet? Have you ever seen a potty trained cat? It is pretty amusing.

Id love to know how they train those cats and dogs to use the toilet. I would pay someone to do it.

If i were to buy an automatic cat box it would be the one above. The cost is astronomical however, so for the time being we are having to scoop our hearts out :( shame cats can't be taught to use the toilet over night, though I'm not sure I'd want to share a potty with even the most skilled cat anytime soon either ;)

I have never heard of this before. They seem to come out with something new everyday, I have a cat and I think this would work really well. I think I will look into it and buy one.
