Has anybody here tried the free calling now available with Google Talk? I make a lot of long-distance calls, so I was wondering how well this works for people.

Do you mean skype? http://www.skype.com/?utm_source=google/US/search&utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=brandusxx/usbrande&utm_term=skype/exact&utm_content=644545324&cm_mmc=google/search-_-brandusxx/usbrande-_-skype/exact-_-US/644545324
Ive heard about this and am watching it closely. so far i heard it can go in and out with sound. I also heard that alot of scammers are using it to call people and pretend to be credit card companies to get the account information. It does sound like a great idea and a great way to save money to talk to people long distance.

No, I don't think it's the same thing as skype... it's something new by google. Unless... are they the same thing? If so, sorry!

I heard google just bought youtube. they are really branching out fast and i hope its not to fast. So many directions and none of them are related isnt a good thing for a business. I really hate when one company buys up everything around them.

I read about that too.... it is really getting on my nerve.
I don't want to end up 10 years later, every single site is Google Trademarked.

So GoogleTalk doesn't allow calls to landlines? The article I read was a little misleading.
I like Google. I don't necessarily want everything to be Google Trademarked, either, but it's a company that I trust and respect.

I just heard this morning that down the road Google could be sued because of copyright laws. There are alot of videos on youtube that did not get permission to put these utube. Never really even thought about that aspect of utube. I'm with you in the sense that I like Google but I don't want to see them buy up everything and then wherever you turn it will be all be Google related.

Yes, I have tried Google's phone service. It's clear and very good. But like any Internet services you need high speed broadband service where the line is stable otherwise the call might drop and voice quality may suffer. But this is a cool feature.

I use Google talk for chat all the time but for phone conversations I've only used Skype and has been as clear as a bell, even though internet connection in NZ and in China leaves a lot to be desired. I've had a couple of strange calls/skype messages too but I guess if you don't know who they are it's best to ignore them.
