This gadget seems to come and go on various sites, but the price is always decreasing!

We purchased a couple of these to help some of the younger students and we have e-Puppy read Web pages and Word documents aloud to them. In addition, we have used it as a mic and speaker. (We don't use the e-mail capabilities, but they probably work fine.) The manual is cryptic, but, for under $10, it definitely is a conversation-started in my office!
