One of the most fun and interesting science experiments around. Ferrofluid is a magnetic liquid that takes the shape of any magnetic field applied to it, and changes in density (it gets thicker) in a magnetic field. It's an AMAZING tool for visualizing magnetic fields in three dimensions! With a bottle of ferrofluid and some strong magnets, you'll be set for hours of fun experiments and demonstrations

I wonder if these is a way to freeze the ferrofluid after making it show a magnetic field in 3d. that would be awesome if you could.

You could try to make a mold of it... Then create a sculpture using the mold.

Wow that is impressive. Does it only work with very strong magnets or would it work with natural magnetic fields?

Is it true that it stains everything it touches?

Would you happen to have a picture of your work with ferrofluids? How would you be able to solidify a ferrofluid? What about practical applications for analyzing magnetic fields, can anyone give some?

Are there any health dangers associated with this?
Looks like so much fun...I'd make a mess for sure. Hehehe, also looks like something the crazy folks on Mythbusters would find a use for ![]() |
